The performance piece “Un violador en tu camino” (“A Rapist in Your Path”, also known as “The Rapist Is You”) emerged on November 2019. Viralized through social media, this performance experience has been appropriated and recreated across Chile and the world. This essay explores, from feminist communication and feminist criticism of communication, the displacements of this performance as a relation between art and feminism destabilizing the communicational symbology of current hegemonic power supported by a patriarchal cultural system of global reach. Its recreation in different countries, cities and towns, it’s expressed as a collective act of self-defense in the face of multiple oppressions, as a liberation rite of the individual bodies, both occupying public space and configuring an unseizable social body; as transcultural destabilization of “safe” notions surrounding the family and state. These displacements cross ethnic, national, territorial and cultural borders of women across the globe to break down the command of masculinity and its pedagogy of cruelty.
